They're the same yet not the same, if you get what I mean. That aside, New Year's day sure was lively. Chinese New Year's day was lively too, though I spent most of the time sleeping in the car and grandparents' house. Haha.

I'd like to liken this picture to my current job hunting status. Looking pretty far from reach there...

On another note, once in a while I revamp my music playlist with completely new songs. Random trivia but it's alright, I'm not writing something that you need to forward before 10pm tonight or a family of beavers will come knocking at your windows. Hahahaha.

And the end is here! ... 3 weeks ago. Hehe.

I know it is rather anti-climactic to update after forever with a wordy post. I have tons to update over the years (yes, years) though at this point in time, I guess the ones in question would have either forgotten I was there with a camera, or grown tired of waiting; whichever group you may be in, I am really sorry about that T-T It would appear that I have multitasking skills at a lower level than minus one. Actually that's a convenient excuse, I am just an inherently lazy person who can't work without deadlines which I did not set myself.

So this year felt like a really long one, if I didn't highlight that point enough. So I suppose it more or less explains the saying "Time flies when you are having fun"; the inverse holds true too. Much of my sorrow (lol) was caused by what you call a final year project. In layman terms, it is a year of continuous effort to hopefully achieve something worthwhile of being an engineer. In more technical terms, it is a year of continuous effort to hopefully achieve something worthwhile of being an engineer... sorry I am not a very technical person at heart haha.

I chose the messiest looking picture possible to give you the false impression that my work was unbelievably complicated and difficult.

Anyway, it was without doubt a great learning experience but I have to say I was probably putting too many things on my tiny plate, with neither the teeth to chew nor the stomach to stomach them, (can I consider this a pun? The concept of puns really elude me). I feel the need to publicly state that I am eternally grateful to the rather many people who made it a lot more bearable. Eternal in this case sounds like an exaggeration and I agree that it is a subjective matter but at this point in time and up until the foreseeable future, I boldly declare that I am grateful 8D Names are withheld because well, blogs need no names and names need no blogs, or something like that. Emotional support, tangible aid, etc., I appreciated them all. I was also somewhat happy that my absence was noticed and inquired about, though in the form of Facebook spam. This in itself is actually a pretty selfish thought, so I need to apologize for that *bows*.

Ta-dahh. The final product. It doesn't work as well as it looks cool, which is not something to be proud of. Then again, reality seldom sounds soothing so yeah.

Despite my considerably long complaint paragraphs above, it wasn't as though my life was a complete hell throughout the year; I just enjoy complaining. There were some high points of note too (basically all the time I was not working on the project), otherwise I would be composing this post from an asylum. Actually, for all you know I could be, but I shall save you the suspense (or the lack of it) by telling you I am not. I am completely sane now :D This is partly due to the fact that I have safely graduated! The quality of my grades may or may not be questionable enough but the fact that I am now a certified course completer means that I can begin working on your homes and break some pipes and wire-boxes, or go to factories and be a nuisance at the product lines from lack of experience. If I ever get hired, that is. Currently I am cliché-ly contributing to the unemployment statistics and surviving on the bread brought home by my parents. I'll do something about that sometime soon, when I'm not busy blogging. There, another excuse. People like me really wait for good things to fall down from the sky.

Anyway, as lost as I am I think I am not that lost. Or something like that. I still know what I want to be. I guess 8D Toodles peeps.

By the way, happy graduating to all my friends who are graduating tomorrow! Am sure you people will look great wearing that square-ish headgear =D Hope we keep do keep in touch =D

Making full use of the week-long midsemester break, we went on another excursion (is this the right word?) right before uni reopened (for Sensors midsemester test so a few of us brought notes into the bus to apparently study lol).

Teh Great Ocean Road

I went on a Great Ocean Road ~~bus trip~~ adventure some long long time ago ~~
There were only 3 stooges going because everyone else either already went / not interested / just dowan / going next millenium. Haha.

Anyway, the grand story began with me waking up late, or should I say super late that we had to practically run from the halls all the way to the bus loop, and took the city loop train going the wrong direction (then again it's a giant merry-go-round). I am so sorry my friends *bows*
Anyway (again) we made it on time and boarded the tour bus safely enough.

Things were smooth sailing like a rocky ship after. The roads were either too winding+narrow (hence the Great Ocean Road), or the bus driver was just plain ganas, which one it is exactly I dunno -_-

Some hotel. Forgot all the details. I have goldfish memory.

First stop... can't remember much. This was the second stop if I recall correctly.

Third stop: Somewhere with shops. I was saved. Ginger is good ~

I was the one who ate lunch but they had a lot of energy for jump shots.

Fourth stop: After another hour or so of me ZzZzzzz-ing we finally reached the main highlight of the trip.

They have a national park just for it!

... with some pretty plants for decorations by the sidewalks. But I stopped when I saw some sign along the lines of "WARNING: wild poisonous animals/insects may jump out and eat you". Gee.

The Twelve Apostles are... a bunch of solitary rocks on the beach. There are actually less than 12 now due to natural causes, I dunno the actual terms to use. Need. To. Go. Back. To. English. Class.

I thought maybe they'd look nicer from a different angle but somehow they still looked like a bunch of solitary rocks. Tour guide mentioned they look beautiful if you view it from a helicopter high up above... for AUD100 or something like that. That is some expensive view alrighty.
Anyway, the view is actually nice if you like the sea =D

This is a more erm interesting(?) tale of two survivors. Apparently the bridge (is it called a bridge? -_-) collapsed and no one got hurt, but two people were stranded on the new island. Doesn't sound too fishy until you read that it's some boss and his secretary hahaha.

Up close... close enough.

That marks the end of my great ocean adventure. On the way home the bus played March of the Penguins on TV =D

I lied again. Currently re-learning how to edit the horrendous pictures I have taken ~~and I screwed up my project and I still need to study~~ so hmm sorry for this pointless post xD

Anyway, I was just wondering if the person who invented chess didn't really have high regards for his king. Hmm. But the same goes for Chinese chess. Hmmmmm.
And there's also the issue with the Queen being a little too powerful. Hmm.

Again, in higher res because I can.

Mid semester break ended just like that. I am duly impressed by the amount of work, or more precisely the lack of it which I managed to achieve.

No Man Is an Island

No date is an update! Okay very lame and makes no sense, but ah well.
Kinda ~~tired~~ ~~lazy~~ tired and since the next post... should be rather lengthy... I'll have a proper update next time xD

Finally just finished watching Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva after a long long time of waiting, forgetting, getting reminded, waiting, and erm waiting. Depressing stories aside, I watched it eventually la.

Hmm, it's actually impressive how it still manages to be unpredictable in many ways despite the tendency (by tendency I mean just from the 3 I have seen before, not sure about others lol but yes I like jumping to conclusions this way) to have ~~ridiculous~~ out-of-the-world answers to puzzling mysteries, overly rich mad scientists who build massive structures which always collapses/self-destructs at the end of the movie which takes up 5 minutes of screen-time for the main characters to escape and save a damsel in distress, crazily obsessed people, practically clueless detectives, and Flora getting minimal time on the screen because she is either in hiding locked up with cows or I dunno, just doesn't appear at all.
Anyway, overall quite a nice movie. Professor Layton FTW =D

At the Docks + Somewhere in the City

[This post wasn't meant to be composed until I'm done with my supposed test on Saturday. Test got postponed to the 18th >_> Not that I studied enough to complain though hehe.]

This is a post about another fine day. There seems to be many fine days lol. No actually not, I hardly ever went out enough to judge the weather but never mind it.

ANYWAY, one fine day whatever remained of 2007 muffins in Australia who somehow took Maths B in 2007 decided to meet up in the city, even though all of us stayed in Clayton haha. Meeting was to convene around noon on that one fine day.

So hmm I went to the city early in the morning around 10.30 (yes 10.30 is very early) because Ms Lisa Lau thought it'd be a good day to go gambling since the planets and stars were properly aligned that one fine day. Hahaha. Actually it was more like it's the mid-sem break, and since I was only on exchange for one semester and while I've always wanted to enter a casino I'm not exactly the best tourist around, plus she needs to pick up someone who isn't exactly the best navigator around in the evening (=P), somehow we went to the Crown Casino lol.

That aside, this post will be quite a mess. Photos are quite a mess, and their qualities are rather questionable. No excuses because I was using teh LX3 after all but please be kind =D

Inspirational pose. Explanation as follows: unless I see someone taking pictures of something, I don't have any initiative to take photos of anything that doesn't strike my fancy, and there aren't many things in the world that do =x Hmm so I need to go out with someone who would actually bother bringing along a camera to avoid wasting my own haha.

Anyway cameras weren't allowed in casinos since they were prolly afraid we going to spy on some bigshot like some secret agent and then sell the photos to their wives for big money, and I wasn't born with guts of steel to steal some shots so no pictures lo.

That fateful day I discovered that I didn't have much of a gambling luck in the gambling den. Good thing they gave us free AUD5 for registering, so there was no nett lost, and I even obtained a nett profit since we only used AUD3 (or was it 2) each.
...I've lost more playing with toy capsules machines xDD but that's a story for another day, if the day ever comes.

...Sorry, I just realized I forgot to take a picture of the casino emblem-ish thingy o.o anyway it doesn't look particularly special during the day, and as for the night image I believe your imagination will serve you well enough to help visualize the image of a lightbulb crown =D

Moving onnnnn. After seeing enough of the slot machines we moved on to wander around at some park to eat sandwiches, which meant no DonDon for lunch T.T and since it wasn't noon yet, there was Docklands; the giant playground for the free, the rich, and also for the dinosaurs.

And I think my wordy-ness stops here xD

...and reached the shopping district. Really expensive shops with really spacious walkways. Spacious walkways hmm.

Anyway (I use lots of 'anyway's but anywayyyy) somehow the expanded tourist group hailed the tram.

So I spent the rest of the ride looking at this.

And the Parliament - the place people get married! Ehh really one, many people take wedding photos heres.

I turned back to look inside the tram to see a slight change in scenery.

Sometime later (after walking a few miles and Mrs Kung belanja-ed us pizza thank yuuh auntie =D and I stealthily bought DonDon for the next day's lunch >D) we parted ways... and I walked some kilometres to see teh muffins (who I saw almost everyday) because I didn't know which tram to take =x
I still don't really understand the tram system even now, but I guess it doesn't really matter since I'm back xD

We went to pick up Ms Tan at some street after Mr Phua was done buying perfume for his sister and bumped into Ms Ng in another tram which again, I did not know which and where =x but nvm! I got home safely courtesy of those who did =D

Dinner was at some Hong Kong-ish Kim-Gary-like restaurant at someplace which reminded me alot of Sungei Wang.

It was a rather fun dinner =D

There was this other sign which said "Please turn to your neighbour and thank them for paying for your ride" or something like that lol.

This is another very old update. Pictures taken on 2nd April according to the files' details, think it was during Easter Break. Lol.

Anyway one fine morning I woke up and looked out the window:

... before going for a certain William Ricketts Sanctuary somewhere far far away. By far I mean really far la. Plus the road up was kinda dodgy -_-

We were supposed to go with Ms Kung Pei Chern, but unfortunately Mrs Kung and an older relative of Ms Kung (lol actually it's her sister) who flew to Melbourne to visit her got into some bus interchange(?) problem at Oakleigh(?), so she wasn't able to join in the end. I forgot why Mr Phua didn't come (sister visit?) or why Mei Xian or Chee Yung or Wing Yann didn't either hmm. Sorry I gots poor memory.

ANYWAY eventually I only went with Lisa.

It was an... interesting place. Or should I say a place with interesting sculptures.

...which Ms Lau seemed to like. A lot. o.o

Hmm unless you haven't been coming for more than 10 years I guess it's more or less self-explanatory, haha. I changed the colour on purpose one okay. Me liketh blooo.

Layout looks pretty much the same since I have an inborn talent for laziness with the exception of a wider column for posts ~~so that I can now upload large images for showoff purposes~~. Which means you might still see some messed up alignment between diagonal lines of different sections depending on your screen resolution aiks.

The header's a really random image I made for fun, do view it in good humor (if that's how you use it) hahaha.
Though if you find it offensive in any way (maybe you don't like seeing knives or you think the sun and lightning should not appear on the same image etc.) do tell me, depending on who you are I might just change it for better or perhaps for worse >D

One fine Saturday we stalked Mr Phua who went to look for his sister who lives opposite the market. Living opposite the market would mean not having to wake up early every Saturday to go to Brandon Park for grocery shopping, damn convenient can o.o Another problem about going shopping here is not being able to buy more that what you can carry by hand since there is no longer a car for you to throw stuff into -_- Imagine having to put back half the things you have in the trolley just because "Eh no hand to carry" -_-

Hmm if you don't know yet, I am currently in Clayton and will be back by July haha. So far it's been fun =D Australia's pretty much the same as home, just that the cost of everything is multiplied by 3 (when I get back everything will look very cheap -_-), Australians are all pretty friendly minus some hmm less friendly ones, environment quite obviously cleaner, public transports generally on time rather than Malaysian time, and drivers actually stop for you at pedestrian crossings (except in Asian-dominated areas, for obvious reasons, need I say more?). Hahaha.

Anyway, I didn't get to bring D40X here, hence a Lumix LX3 =3

Photos taken during the first half of Residential Halls' Orientation Week. Only by week though, orientation wasn't the only thing I attended. So I shall rollback the post to 26th February 2010! (actual post date 14th April xD)

I kena pwn-ed on my birthday. Details are foggy to me, but somehow I woke up a little early and went back to sleep, and half a dreamtime later mom came upstairs to wake me up, so I dragged myself downstairs to see.... 8 people (actually I only saw 7 at first, sorry! haha) waiting for me with a cake.

And a Steelseries Siberia Full-size Headset from Andrew, Ann June, Bee Theng, Carolyn, Chee Yung, Chu Ian, Mei Xian, Pei Chern, and Vincent.

Short review since I'm a person of few words, haha.

Build: Wires are thick, feels like they can take quite a bit of yanking before coming off, haven't tried and not planning to try, please don't help me try either thank you. The headphones feel solid enough to hold and wear but I shouldn't try dropping them, plastic remains plastic after all.

Comfort: Very comfortable, can be worn for hours without any pain or discomfort to the ears, and with the retractable adjustable headband I hardly even feel anything on top of my head despite its size (talking about size, it's not very portable but it's okay, I don't need portability haha). Open air design allows the ears to breathe and at the same time makes it possible to hear my parents calling from ~~the other far end of the universe~~ downstairs. Then again, when you can listen to sounds from such a distance you'd practically hear everything else along the way = lots of noise. Will get to the squeaking part later.

Sound: Sounds great, they're a joy to listen to. Not too bassy which is good, since I don't really like a lot of bass since they're bad for the heart. And you can hear sounds from different directions clearly, even in songs yay. I heard it's useful if you play first-person shooter games; I don't play them, but anyway, I don't think it's a waste =D I have some problem with the squeaking, the phones actually squeak since they're plastic, nothing major there though.

Design looks abit.... quirky, but I like it all the same =D

Haiii. As you may or may not know, I went to Singapore ~~2 weeks ago~~ last month (damn overdue) for Anime Festival Asia 2009. I thought I was very free since there were no more assignments to hand up last week and so I became a kepohchi and lugged my camera to teh uni's sports carnival badminton competition (or was it some other event? xDD). It wasn't for nothing, because I have now reaffirmed my beliefs that I should stay at home and take pictures of inanimate objects for the rest of my life.

Pictures are kind of by the order they were taken. Some pics are taken using manual focus since I dowan some players to blog about "that darn girl with the glaring camera light distracting me". [but yesss if you're wondering, I am also very impressed at my intelligence to use manual focus for such a thing].

Picture taken a few days before Mechanics test. As you can see, I was struggling with basics at the 11th hour. And still taking pictures at such dangerous times.

As you all know or should know, I'm currently on holiday xD (I keep telling everyone >D)

Anyway, 13 weeks in a nutshell: This semester taught me that some people are just on a whole different level altogether, in a way that really reminds me there are some things you cannot achieve with sheer hard work alone. Certain things really require talent and brains you know T_T Not that I'm in any way hardworking, but I guess I've been less lazy compared to school days (you can ask my teachers), so it's already a big improvement xD Anyway, I consider this realization wisdom! All hail teh wise guru =D

I also need to thank fellow peers who helped me a lot in studies projects labs bloodbath these few months. Thank you very much! *bows* =D

Oh and a special note to someone, I hope someday you'll get framed the same way you framed us =D

I just realized I always think of Detective Conan whenever I listen to Love Hina OSTs, which explains the post title actually. I dunno, prolly it's because I was into LH songs when I went on a DC manga marathon (I raced through 400 chapters in a week, how much did I exactly remember or understood remains unknown till today). It feels oddly calming though xD

Ahhh I almost forgot, thank you Dhanika for skillfully booking Transformers tickets so that we got to watch it the day I finished my exams! Transformers was nicenicenicenicenice btw =D

Sent my phone for repairs a few days ago. Of all the things on earth you'd expect the keypad to at least be problem-free. Mana tau everything else no problem (yet. oh wait, choy choy choy) and the keypad got problem -_-

Also found out by chance yesterday that my favourite "Legendary" game on NES(was it NES?) was actually called the "Legend of Kage". Imagine me googling for "NES legendary game" for a few days, find until can die -_-" Talking about NES games, it's really nice to be able to play them again after seeing only graphically advanced games for so many years. But now I'm getting as many "game over"s as the amount of sand in the desert, I used to be so much better at them, especially at TwinBee T_T

Title says it all. Some pictures were cleaned to remove dust. No photo enhancements just like someone I know. Might have to repost an edited version since I cannot stand seeing unedited photos; it displays a grave lack of creativity. Not like I have any to begin with, but I want people to at least know that I know how to adjust the brightness of photographs. Lol.

EDIT: Photos have been edited because I'm kiasu. Not that they look any better but I still prefer edited photos xD

Hmm as all of you know/should know/should have known, I am not good with angles. I enjoy taking photos of still life or actually it's more like no life photography since I have no life and my models are lifeless, and that I like playing with my "stage" setups (most of the time they're just plain white or black though).

The setup may be simple and not grand and not nice (whichever you prefer, or all of them if you so wish), but I'd like to call it my own Not-So-Revolutionary Revolutionary Lighting, haha.

I took a lot of time taking these shots, and by a lot I mean hours, and even with that I can't say they're good. Some were taken yesterday, some were taken last week. I'm not good with angles, so I can't come up with some picture and say "I spent 2 minutes on this one" T.T Talent is a scary thing *nod nod*

Anyway, for a change of mood, and as a Chinese New Year Resolution, I'm going to start using ipernity to host images from now on, they provide muchhhh more space than the kedekut Blogger, round 200MB per month compared to 1GB per lifetime in Blogger. Not exactly the most gorgeous looking site around, Flickr's nicer actually, but at least I don't need a Yahoo! ID to register, haha.

It's already the 13th day I think, but oh well, it's still CNY!
Once again, this year I have reaffirmed my belief that Hokkiens in the neighbourhood are very lively people.

The phone came with some HPM-62 stock earphones, but I wanted in-ear ones, so I bought a pair of HPM-82, and somehow after a longggg story, I ended up with a pair of HPM-70. May elaborate on that further when I feel like it, but for now here's a picture xD

Show-Off Again: Prelude

I've lost count of the number of show-off posts I have made so far. It's not that I'm rich, I just show off much more than rich people do, that's all xD or should I say, I get more gadget-y toys while you buggers get much more erm, expensive high-end high-tech stuff?

Anyway, as you may or may not but most likely have guessed from my Bump post, the subject of pride(?) this time would be an 8.1 megapixel camera phone =D

I still like my older k800i though, so I won't call it an old phone or trash it. It was a present and a really good phone which survived a 1 1/2 storey fall after all =D

The rest... will come soon. Hoho.

A noteworthy note:
Thank you o parents for buying me this phone, thank you very much =D and thank you o Chu Ian for discovering Atlantis (lol) and enquiring the price. and thank you o Chee Yung for buying the phone together and making up a trio? lol.

And a not so noteworthy note:
CNY is coming reallyyyyy soon. I have many things to take care of eg. my unattended tooth since November I hope it's still salvageable now =\ and my room needs a ridiculous amount of cleaning up, and I need to go attack a shop for selling me lousy earphones, and I also need to go print out some photos, and I also need to move some flower pots somewhere later, etc.

Oh, and also the FISH. Aiya.

Very overdue. I've had this one in under "Drafts" since the 2nd, but due to undisclosed circumstances I delayed the posting till erm today [and at the point of writing this it's still under drafts].

Didn't take anymore performance shots after that due to unforeseen circumstances, but they should all look the same anyway.

Thank you thank you thank you Ann June and Chu Ian(teh driver) for teh fetching me to the Curve and back home after! =D ...and banyak sorry for the *cough* flash strobe-ish lighting, haha.

Unfortunately group pictures were taken using the Pentax compact camera (since ~~spraycan-wielding barbarians~~ snowsprays were at large and I don't need my D40X to be graced with snow for the SECOND time) which either turned out blur or the colours not nice or the sizes not right. So no group pics. Sorry ya -_-

It's a mustttt musttttt musttttt for New Year posts to have fireworks pictures, so I took mine at the Curve. They were quite okaylah, but a little short. And the pictures didn't turn out well. But it's still fireworks! xD
